XX Commonwealth Games – Glasgow 2014

Glasgow hosted the Twentieth Commonwealth Games dubbed as the Friendly Games and it certainly delivered. Not only were we [family and friends] delighted to hold such a massive event, but proud that it went so well. Glasgow looked great, the weather held up (for the most part) and their were some great sporting moments of history made.

Unfortunately, all photographers had to be accredited to get into the games, and I didn’t apply in time to pass what was quite a strict accreditation process apparently. However, ticket holders were allowed to shoot for non commercial use…

There were some great free events throughout the City during the games too, The Glasgow Green Live Zone was great for watching all action on the big screens and having a chill out to the free music concerts. It really was a great 11 days throughout the city.. Something we might not see again for a long time, but proof that we can not only host a major event but build a huge festival like atmosphere around it for everyone. Well done Glasgow!

So what’s next? Well the pipe band season is hotting up as The World Pipe Band Championships is fast approaching (15th & 16th August) but before that we have another competition weekend and the PipingLive! Festival – stay tuned for photos from both…
